Fairfield Glade Bocce Ball Court

Fairfield Glade needed a new recreation amenity for its Crossville, Tennessee community. The plan: a bocce ball court at Robin Hood Park, built from an existing, unused lot on Lake Catherine. The community brought East Tennessee Contractors blueprints and an idea. The team then carried the project from that raw site to a finished, regulation-ready court.

A Bocce Ball Court at Robin Hood Park Built to Play Level

A bocce court has to be level, or it isn’t playable. So East Tennessee Contractors started by grading the existing lot into a level site. Crews then poured the court pads to within an eighth of an inch of level, matching Robin Hood Park’s own 60-foot by 10-foot court specs. Each pad also passed compaction testing first, so the base underneath stays stable for years. Outdoor carpet went down next to create the official playing surface, backed by rubber side rails so players can bank a throw off the edge. Sidewalks, site drainage, and landscaping then tied the new court into the surrounding park.

Sunshade Structures Built to Last

Players and spectators also needed shade. So East Tennessee Contractors built two covered pavilions with standing seam metal roofs over the courts. Structural steel columns and Glu-Lam beams support each roof, so the structures hold up outdoors for years to come. Covered benches at each end give players a place to sit between turns, with extra seating along the side for spectators. That combination brings the same durability ETC uses on its commercial steel erection projects to a small-scale park amenity.

One Team, From Blueprint to Finished Court

Fairfield Glade met East Tennessee Contractors with blueprints and an idea. The team brought it to life without a hitch. ETC handled the sitework, the shade structures, and the finish work together. So the community never had to coordinate separate contractors. Instead, one team carried this bocce ball court at Robin Hood Park from an empty lot to a finished amenity that only asks players to stand and toss or roll a ball. The community can use it today.
