At East Tennessee Contractors, we’re proud to partner with organizations that serve the people of our region. Our recent commercial construction project for East Fork Water District in Monterey, Tennessee, was all about building smarter from the ground up.
This 6,500 sq ft pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) was designed to meet the operational needs of East Fork Utility, a company committed to providing clean, reliable water to the residents of Putnam County. We were honored to deliver a structure that supports their important work, now and into the future.
Project Overview
This steel building was designed with clear goals in mind: efficiency, durability, and flexibility. The facility includes three distinct areas that support daily utility operations:
- 1,500 sq ft of finished office space: Built for comfort and functionality, the office section gives staff a professional workspace that’s insulated, energy-efficient, and laid out for smooth day-to-day workflow.
- 3,500 sq ft of warehouse space: The warehouse portion houses vital equipment and inventory. We constructed it with wide spans, heavy-duty concrete, and ample lighting—making it easy to access materials and keep operations moving.
- 1,500 sq ft of overhead mezzanine storage: To maximize usable square footage without expanding the building footprint, we included a structural mezzanine. This overhead storage offers flexibility for future growth and efficient organization of tools, parts, and backup supplies.
Why We Chose Steel
Pre-engineered metal buildings are the smart choice for municipalities and service organizations like East Fork Utility. With faster build times, long-lasting materials, and lower lifetime maintenance costs, PEMBs offer excellent value—without compromising durability.
This structure was engineered to meet local codes and environmental conditions in Monterey, TN, including wind and snow load requirements. It also features high-performance insulation to reduce energy use throughout the year. Steel was the obvious choice for longevity, strength, and speed of assembly.
Scope of Work
Working with East Fork Utility was a pleasure from day one. They came to the table with a clear vision and trusted us to bring that vision to life. As builders, we thrive on that kind of collaboration. It allows us to focus on the details—both big and small—that lead to better outcomes.
Whether it was finalizing the layout, coordinating deliveries, or adapting the design to fit the site, every decision was made with their long-term goals in mind. We value the trust they placed in our team and are proud to have been part of this project.
Commercial Construction that Supports Communities
As a commercial contractor in Tennessee, it’s especially rewarding to work on projects that serve local residents. This new building isn’t just an investment in infrastructure—it’s an investment in the Monterey community.
Steel buildings like this one prove that utility and design can go hand in hand. With flexible layouts, efficient construction, and long-term durability, PEMBs continue to be the gold standard for public works, utilities, and industrial use.
Steel Building Contractor
This facility gives East Fork Utility the space they need to continue delivering reliable water services to Monterey and the surrounding areas. From the first bolt to the final inspection, our goal was simple: build something that works as hard as they do.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their mission and look forward to watching them grow in their new space.
