Clear Creek Horse Barn with Living Quarters

A horse barn with living quarters has to work as two buildings at once. This client near Crossville, Tennessee wanted stalls for his horses and a place to live under one roof. East Tennessee Contractors self performed every scope, from the footings and the slab to the steel frame and the wall panels.

Eight Openings for Eight Horses

Because the client keeps a full string of horses, the side walls carry eight tall openings. Each one opens straight out to pasture. Meanwhile, small windows set between the openings pull daylight deep into the building. As a result, the barn side of the structure stays bright and airy without any added lighting.

A Clear Span Frame and a Straight Pass Through

The red iron frame spans the full width of this 3,360 square foot building. Because of that clear span, nothing interrupts the floor between the walls. Both gable walls also carry large garage door openings. Therefore the owner can drive a truck or a UTV in one end and straight out the other. Instead of backing equipment out the way it came in, he simply keeps going.

Concrete Built to Rinse Clean

ETC crews formed and poured the slab, then set trench drains into it before the concrete cured. Water and washdown run to those channels rather than pooling on the floor. Additionally, raised concrete pads run along each side wall to define the working areas. So keeping this building clean takes a hose and a few minutes.

Finishing a Horse Barn with Living Quarters

Plumbing stub outs rise from the slab where the living space will take shape. Our crews set every one of them before the pour, so the finish work has what it needs from day one. Then the same frame that shelters the horses shelters the owner as well.
