In Crossville, Tennessee, a repeat client came to East Tennessee Contractors with a program rather than a single project. The same building had to go up again and again across the Upper Cumberland. So the ETC team handled the commercial steel erection at site after site, using its own in house steel crews.

One Building Design, Repeated Across Four Towns

Between 2022 and 2023, the ETC team erected more than 750,000 square feet of these structures. The work spread across Crossville, Cookeville, Pikeville, and Sparta. Each site got the same building. Therefore the crews learned the sequence once and then repeated it. As a result, every location went up faster than the one before it. The client also got the same finished product in four different towns.

Why In House Crews Matter on Commercial Steel Erection

A steel program lives or dies on scheduling. A subcontracted crew answers to its own backlog first. However, ETC runs its steel erection team in house. So the company controls when crews mobilize, how they sequence, and what happens when a site slips. That control let this client run a multi year rollout without chasing a different erector at every location. It also kept one point of accountability across all four towns.

Built for Repetition, Site After Site

Repetition rewards preparation. The team staged material the same way at every location. Crews set the frames in the same order and hit the same milestones. Meanwhile the client got predictable turnover dates. Safety stayed consistent too, because the crews repeated familiar work instead of learning a new building each time. Small lessons from one site carried straight to the next. Because of that, the last building went up on ground the crews already understood.
