East Tennessee Contractors supplied and erected all of the structural steel and metal decking for the new TCAT Livingston facility, working under general contractor Mid State Construction. Girder beams, welded bar joists, embeds, flange bracing, RTU openings, and ladder access all went in on schedule, with the deck turned over fully prepped for the TPO roof.

TCAT Livingston needed a steel frame that could carry classrooms, shop bays, and a full roof system on one campus footprint. Mid State Construction brought in East Tennessee Contractors to supply and erect all of the structural steel and metal decking. So our crews handled the frame from the first embed to the last sheet of deck.

Structural Steel Across Three Connected Sections

The building rises in three parts. A two story masonry classroom block anchors one end, a low center bay ties the plan together, and a tall high bay shop closes the far end. Each section carries its own framing demands. Therefore our team set large girder beams, welded bar joists, and miscellaneous bracing sized for each span. Flange bracing stiffens the joists where the roof loads concentrate. Meanwhile embeds tie the steel into the masonry so the two systems work together instead of against each other.

Metal Decking Prepped and Ready for TPO Roof

Once the frame stood, crews laid corrugated metal decking across every joist line. They framed the RTU openings as they went, so the mechanical contractor found its curbs waiting. Ladder access points went in during the same pass. Then the deck was fully prepped and ready for the TPO roof, which let the next trade start without a single day of rework.
