Light House Optical Renovation

The Project

Light House Optical was growing faster than its building in Cookeville, Tennessee. The practice didn’t want to relocate or build new — they wanted the square footage they already owned to work harder. We renovated their older, underused areas into 2,200 sq ft of functional office and work space, on a three-month timeline, while the practice kept seeing patients.

Renovation Instead of Relocation

Moving would have cost Light House Optical the location their patients already know, and new construction would have cost time they didn’t want to spend. Reworking the existing footprint was the right call — but only if every square foot earned its keep. We assigned each area a job: reception, exam prep, storage, or office work, and rebuilt the older spaces around those jobs instead of around what happened to be there before.

Built Around Patient Flow

A medical and optical office follows different rules than a standard office suite. Patients move from check-in to exam to checkout, staff need supplies and files within reach, and privacy matters at every step. We laid the renovation out around that daily rhythm — fewer bottlenecks, fewer wasted steps, and a clean, professional feel that matches the care the practice provides.
