Single Slope Metal Home

A single slope metal building home gave this client near Crossville, Tennessee exactly what he asked for, a weathertight shell and nothing more. He planned to handle the interior trades himself, on his own schedule. So he hired East Tennessee Contractors to erect the structure and close it in tight.

A Single Slope Roof and a Deep Covered Porch

One roof plane runs the full width of the building instead of meeting at a ridge. That single slope sheds water to one side. It also lifts the tall wall high enough to carry a long run of glass. Meanwhile the roof extends well past the wall line to form a large covered porch. Slender steel columns hold up that overhang, so the porch stays open along its whole length. As a result the owner gained real outdoor living space without a second structure.

Dried In on the Owner’s Own Timeline

The ETC team erected the steel frame, then set the bronze wall panels and the standing seam roof. Our crews also hung every door and installed every window, including the sliding glass units under the porch. Then they lined the walls and the roof with insulation. Because the building went weathertight in one pass, the owner started interior framing right away. He works dry now, in his own building, at whatever pace suits him.

Finishing a Single Slope Metal Building Home

Inside, the owner framed his room layout straight onto the slab. The open floor let him place walls wherever the plan called for them. Above that framing, the steel frame and the insulated liner stay exposed for now. So every interior decision still belongs to him.
